In this part (Part 2), I will discuss the geneology of Genesis 5. Part 3 will talk about the geneology of Genesis 11 and will conclude with how all of these fit perfectly with May 21, 2011 as the return of Jesus Christ.
Before we go on, let us note the following:
1. "qara shem" - this Hebrew for "called his name" or "had a son", which is used to indicate an immediate father-son relationship. In other words, the Bible will show instances that say "called his name" or "begat" to illustrate a direct father-son line. This direct father-son line contains the father's generation. For instance, although X lived 900 years, his generation only lasted 100 years since X was 100 when he called his name Y. Genesis 21:3 uses "called his name" to tell us Abraham was Isaac's direct father:
3 And Abraham called the name of his son that was born unto him, whom Sarah bare to him, Isaac.
Genesis 5:32 uses "begat" to also show the direct sons of Noah:
32 And Noah was five hundred years old: and Noah begat Shem, Ham, and Ja'-pheth
2. The word "begat" can also mean a descendant down, not direct father-son. In other words, the word "begat" can also mean X is a descendant of Y, a few generations after. So this could be "grandfather to X" or a "great-great-great grandfather to X". For instance, Gen. 11:12 says,
12 And Ar-phax'ad lived five and thirty years, and begat Sa'lah:
We know Cainan was the son between Arphaxad and Salah as we read in Luke 3:35-36,
35 Which was the son of Saruch, which was the son of Ragau, which was the son of Phalec, which was the son of Heber, which was the son of Sala,
36 Which was the son of Cainan, which was the son of Arphaxad, which was the son of Sem, which was the son of Noe, which was the son of Lamech,
3. The names in Genesis 5 and 11 are calendar Patriarchs, which means they are the generation-holders. We would count only the number of years X lived when he "called his son" (or begat). We also understand certain events to be calendar-markers as well. The events are the Flood, The Exodus, the beginning of the building of the Temple in Jerusalem, and King Solomon's death.
4. We will find out the year the Flood occurred and, in part 3, we will find out the year King Solomon died. These two dates are key in the discovery of our May 21, 2011 date.
5. In most of the generation markers, you will have to read the few verses before and after the main verse given to get the number of years.
Now that we've got those out of the way, let's continue building our calendars using Genesis chapter 5. There are 10 generations from Adam to the Flood in Noah's day.
GENERATION HOLDER 1 (Adam)
Gen. 5:3
3 And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, and after his image; and called his name Seth:
Here, Adam's generation (or calendar) lasted 130 years before he begat Seth (a direct father-son). Even though Adam lived 930 years, his generation only lasted 130 years. So, let's put 130 to our calculations.
GENERATION HOLDER 2 (Seth)
Gen. 5:6
6 And Seth lived an hundred and five years, and begat E'-nos:
Seth's generation lasted 105 years before he begat Enos, although he lived a total 912 years. Again, this is a direct father-son relationship (qara shem). Let's add 105 to our calculations.
GENERATION HOLDER 3 (Enosh)
Gen. 5:9
9 And E'-nos lived ninety years, and begat Ca-i'-nan:
Here, Enos's generation was NOT 90 years since we don't see "qara shem" and that Enos' generation was his whole life span. When he was 90 years old, he had a child but that child was one that, years later, produced another child. Eventually, this child was Cainan, who was born the year Enos dies. So Enos' life span is used as a generation. Let's add 905 to our calculations. This is the product of 815 (as in verse 10) + 90.
GENERATION HOLDER 4 (Cainan)
Gen. 5:12
12 And Ca-i'-nan lived seventy years and begat Ma-hal'-a-leel:
Here, Mahahaleel was not the direct son of Cainan as "qara shem" is missing again. Cainan had a child at age 70 but God chose not to give us his name. Then that son much much later produced Mahalaleel eventually down his line. Cainan lived 840 years after Mahaleleel was begat and lived a total of 910 years (840 + 70). Let's add 910 to our calculations.
GENERATION HOLDER 5 (Mahalaleel)
Gen. 5:15
15 And Ma-hal'-a-leel lived sixty and five years, and begat Jar'-ed:
This is not a direct father-son line so Mahalaleel's generation lasted his entire life span of 895 years (verse 17). Let's add 895 to our calculations.
GENERATION HOLDER 6 (Jared)
Gen. 5:18
18 And Jar'-ed lived an hundred sixty and two years, and he begat E'-noch:
This is not a direct father-son line. He was born the year Mahalaleel died. He lived 162 years and begat (not directly) Enoch. Jared lived 962 years per verse 20. Let's add 962 to our calculations.
GENERATION HOLDER 7 (Enoch)
Gen. 5:21
21 And E'-noch lived sixty and five years, and begat Me-thu'-se-lah:
This is not a direct father-son line. Enoch was born the year Jared died and lived only 365 years as "God took him" (v24). I wonder if the fact that he's the 7th Patriarch, if the number 7 means something here spiritually? Let's add 365 to our calculations.
GENERATION HOLDER 8 (Methuselah)
Gen. 5:22
22 And E'-noch walked with God after he begat Me-thu'-se-lah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters:
This is not a direct father-son line. Methuselah was born the year Enoch died and lived 969 years. Let's add 969 to our calculations.
PATRIARCH 9 (Lamech)
Gen. 5:28
28 And La'-mech lived an hundred eighty and two years, and begat a son:
Lamech was born the year Methuselah died and lived 182 years when he begat Noah (direct father-son). Although he went on to live 777 years, his generation lasted 182 years since his direct son Noah was born. Let's add 182 to our calculations.
PATRIARCH 10 (Noah)
Gen. 5:29
29 And he called his name Noah, saying, This same shall comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands, because of the ground which the LORD hath cursed.
Noah was 600 years old when the Flood occurred (Gen. 7:6)
6 And Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth.
Let's add 600 to our calculations.
OK, these ten generations are added up as:
130 (Adam)
105 (Seth)
905 (Enosh)
910 (Canain)
895 (Mahalaleel)
962 (Jared)
365 (Enoch)
969 (Methuselah)
182 (Lamech)
600 (Noah)

6023
As you can see, the Flood occurred 6023 years after the creation of this world, when God created Adam from dust.
In Part 3, we will go through the timeline from the Flood to King Solomon's death. This will enable us to learn the year the Flood occurred. The Flood is so important as God likens the Day of Judgment to be like the Flood in Noah's day.
